Meet Our Practice's Inspiration, Dr. Grundset

Dr. Murmann's grandfather, Dr. Grundset, attended the University of Illinois of Naperville Dental School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 1941, right after Pearl Harbor was bombed. This allowed him to stay in dental school until the spring of 1942, when he graduated.

A First Lieutenant who rose in rank to Captain, Dr. Grundset went overseas in February 1944 and landed in Oran, North Africa. He was part of the 27th Evacuation Hospital that went through North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany. Dr. Grundset earned seven battle stars during his deployment and came home in December 1945, a few days before Christmas.

When he returned stateside, he opened a dental office in Brookfield, IL. He also taught at the University of Illinois School of Dentistry. In 1959, he and his family moved to Florida, and he opened a dental office in Largo. He retired at 81 and passed away in 2002, and we still miss him today. Dr. Murmann is very proud to honor his legacy.
